From Cologne with ambition: what a 5-year-old abrasives brand learned from century-old giants

Last month, the BUDDIES team attended the Cologne International Hardware Fair (Eisenwarenmesse) in Germany. It was much more than an exhibition: an eye-opening journey into the heart of the global abrasives and tools industry.

Walking through the pavilions, we find ourselves surrounded by true giants: RHODIUS, LUKAS, Bosch, DeWALT, Osborn, SAIT – names that have defined this sector for decades, some for more than a century. Their stands, their products, their brand presence… everything reflected years of tireless work.

What impressed us most was this: its success is no coincidence. From brand design and product quality, to manufacturing standards, quality control, distribution networks, global strategy and long-term consistency – every link in your chain is solid, professional and trustworthy. They have earned their reputation year after year, cut after cut.

And us?

BUDDIES is only five years old. Yes, we are a young company. Yes, we are still on the way. But being young also means that we have the humility to learn, the hunger to improve and the determination to aspire to the world.

New friends, old friends and a successful salon

We were lucky to meet many new customers from all over China, and also to reconnect with our long-term partners. The response was warm and encouraging. The fair was a real success.

After returning home, we have been totally busy with two things:

2️⃣ Develop new products – because standing still is not an option.

Product Improvement: Our 115 and 125 Discs – Real World Tested, Real World Approved

Ahead of the show, we quietly launched an improved formula for our popular 115x1.2mm and 125x1.2mm cutting discs. Feedback from field testing has been excellent – ​​cleaner cuts, longer life and more stable performance.
We are proud of this improvement, but we don't stop there.
